He dosen't want one on-line.Andre_GT7 wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/Larrivee-D-03E_W0QQ ... dZViewItem
I agree with the never being able to play it, so you really don't know what your getting. Thats very true in manufact. that you've never played before, like a Larrivee for example, I'm not sure if you have but a lot of people have never played them. But Martins are quality instruments, you pretty much know what your gettin. But It's much easier and comforting to pick it up @ the store and say...o yah this is it. But then you flip the price over you can only chuckle. But that same guitar, be a a d-35, on E-bay would be considerably less. A lot of times guitar stores are the ones selling them on E-bay. All I'm asking is consider it..I go to E-bay almost daily just to see whats going on with guitars...kinda fun to look. Just make sure the person selling them cared for it as much as you would.

I am Portuguese and last year I was exactly on the same situation you are now.
I wanted to spend 1000Eur, maximum, so I went to a lot of stores in Portugal. All the Taks were great, and I was looking forward to buy one.
Just for curiosity I made some search on US online stores and stopped at http://www.8thstreet.com, which is in Philadelphia, quite near Nazareth (where Martins are made).
I realized that it was worth to wait a little bit more and increase my budget. That way I was able to buy a guitar that would last for the rest of my life: a Martin D-35, and not something to change after 10 years.
Fortunately, I have a friend in Philadelphia that came to Portugal that summer and brought me the D-35 for 1900Eur (but with a Fishman, without electronics it would be near 1600Eur).
The price of a D35 in Portugal is above 3500Eur. I didn't try it, it's true, but for the difference in price it was well worth it!
I've been playing it for more that 6 months now and couldn't be happier with it. Martin makes really good instruments! I really fell it was a great investment and I'll never regret it.
Anyway, if you need a little action adjustment or something, you can go to a local store in Italy!
Well, sorry if I got too long, but I hope it can be helpful...

of course i know that a 1900€ guitar would sound better, but i will never have 1900€: i have many things i have to buy (starting from the pc) and i dont have any work.
plus, u can think in the same way about a 1900€ guitar and a 3000€ one. of course, the more u spend, the better will be the guitar. i just dont have all that money
anyway, i'm still looking around

In the US, you can get a D35 without electronics for 1600Eur and a D28 for probably 1400Eur.
Further, I think the step between a 1300Eur Takamine and a 1600Eur Martin D35 is a lot greater than the step from a 1600Eur D35 and a 2000Eur HD35.
Anyway, with my post I wanted to tell you my opinion about two things:
1. It is better to spend 1600Eur and buy a Martin in the States than spend 1300Eur and buy a Takamine anywhere
2. If the price difference is significant (for me above 300Eur is significant), you can trust a Martin guitar and do not try it before purchase
I can also tell you to "take your time"...
Hope it helps!

the taka was a great choice (IMO) b/c it has great electronics and it's a very versatile (sp?) guitar.
anyway, thx for the help
