real old old martins, that arent in the best condition sound so freakishly awsome and will cost i think around 40k

although Martin is renound for the purest acoustic - all around - Taylor is making strides in terms of innovative design and structure (look into the new GS series)...they also have the market on pickups with the Expression System (very transparent) whereas a Martin will still work with Piezzo underbridge pickups (some have grown to like that sound more)...owning an 814ce, myself, I have to say that it is the easiest acoustic fretboard to work on and is one of the most beautiful looking acoustics (another plus of Taylor, although looks do nothing for the sound, as we know)...a lot of it is preference though...
