Your best friend in cleaning is a soft-cotton rag, dampened with warm water...but, we don't live in a perfect world, SO...
go to http://www.maurysmusic.com and purchase a "Guitar Maintenance Combo Deluxe"
It includes some incredible items to help re-string your guitar.
For cleaning products, the best on the market is Petro's Products. I use Petros Finish Restorer and Petros Guitar Polish. These are highly-concentrated, professional strength cleaners. They will even remove the scratches on your pickguard.
For fretboards, use 0000 grade steel wool and Petro's Fingerboard Oil. Great stuff.
For dusty headstocks and guitar bodies, use some of that canned/forced air you see for computer keyboards. Works great, just be careful to use it in short bursts so it doesn't spray any moisture...
Finally, for anything sticky, nasty, gooey or smudgy, use naptha. That is, use some Ronson Lighter Fluid. Yep, lighter fluid. It works great. Put some on a clean cloth and buff away. It will NOT affect your guitars finish, although use it sparingly in a well-ventilated area. And of course, put the butt away for a bit.
For all other tips and cleaning, visit http://www.frets.com and click on the "Cleaning Your Instrument" section.
Hope that helps.

i have heard lemon oil is veery bad for your guitar.
All I use it some martin spray crap I bought for $9 at gutiar center. It's supposed to clean and polish, i like it.
when you change your strings, try keeping the bottom 3 on, and clean the top half of your fretboard, then do the same after replacing the top 3. make sense?
keep in case, humidifier, dont play when drinking, you should be golden.
