Acoustic Amps

Unread post by Ross420 » Wed Jan 25, 2006 4:51 pm

I've been looking around and was wondering what is a good Acoustic Amp that y'all would recommend. I'm not looking to break the bank but I don't want a piece of shit either. Something that still will keep the gorgous sound of acoustic and maybe have some effects on it.

Thanks

I play my Takamine EF341SC through a Marshall AS50R, it's a 50 watt acoustic combo. 2 channels, reverb and chorus, and anti-feedback. Relatively cheap, and I love it. Shop around though. I hear the Roland (model?) equivalent is pretty nice too. Good luck.

I've got a fender acoustasonic jnr and it freakin rocks. My guitar sounds beautiful through it. I dont know if it would be slightly on the more expensive side though- you could get the smaller model.
Anyway do a search I'm sure this quesions been asked before. good luck!

Evey Hammond: I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

I was at Guitar center the other day and I was impressed with an acoustic Behringer amp. It was 1X12" combo. It also had 2 seperate channels you can run simultaneously including a Microphone input.

I don't know if you play live or not but it should have enough output for live performances (if you mic it obviously) but would definately be a great practice/party amp. It has a fantastic reverb effect built into it as well and it only ran about 400-500 bucks.

what kind of guitar/pickup do you have? if you have anything half decent, i think you would find a decent pa system a better investment. at about the same price, you are going to add a whole new world of versatility while still getting most all of the features you are looking for in an amp save portability.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm not really interested in doing the PA system seems like a pain in the ass if you ask me. I checking in to the Rolands and BEhringer. I also like how they both have a mic hook up and effects.

Thanks again

Correction on that price, I was back at guitar center today and it is only 299!!

Yea I'd say you could hold off on a PA for a while. Were a regular band at a bar around here and they just gave us the money for a $1500 Yamaha PA package and it's fuckin sweet, I don't even really like playing my acoustic without it plugged into the PA now

I was also looking at the behringer amp before i got my fender as I used to have one of their electric amps. It worked fine, but since then I've heard all sorts of bad stories about faulty Behringer amps and stuff, they're cheap for a reason . I'de seriously look at a used amp ( then u know it works), also check out the marshall acoustic amps- as i think they have heaps of additional channels(mics etc)

i like the marshalls, although i think a large part of that for me is that they lookcool as hell... anyways ive played a little shitty marshall practice amp my whole guitar life ( http://www.marshallamps.com/product.asp ... ode=MG10CD )and i mean i play with a full band at my church every sunday with this thing, ive taken the little sucker to peoples houses to jam and it comes right through over the drums, ive played it in my schools auditorium which is not a small place, and its had enough volume for all those situations, so when i upgrade it will be to a marshall acoustic amp.

That is true, you always get what you pay for, but berhinger has been improving there reputation lately. If you have more to spend its probably a good idea to spend it.
