Feedback Help

Unread post by eliot1171 » Sat Jan 07, 2006 11:10 am

I have a Ultraacoustic amp and I have a soundhole pickup but I like the sound better when I just use a mic. I know what feeback is but is there any was to eliminate it? If the amp is pointed towards the mic at all it goes crazy. I'm useing two condenser mics. Is there a certain mic that risists feedback or a preamp that can notch it out?

don't have your amp directly behind you. If you move it off to either side of you it should help alot as long as your amp isn't pointed at the mics.

you said you are using condensor mics? they are drastically more sensitive than a dynamic mic and therefore drastically more prone to feedback...as said above, move that amp as far away as possible

condensors will give nasty feedback if they arent set up just right, especially if you're amplifying them with some kind of gutiar amp

generally, dynamic mics are used for live playing; because the equipment necessary to use condensors in a live setting is so expensive

if you want to use them, just keep moving the amp around until you get no feedback
i would be surprised if you find a way to eliminate the feedback at a decent volume

a Mic does give you a more true sound but if you play in a band or ever decide to, even live by yourself i don't think its the way to go. especially if you have a nice acoustic amp you can get the sound you want out of it.

I love the way my guitars sounds now that I got under saddle pickups put in them, and if you decide to go that route, you can go to your local guitar shop and get a "Feedback Buster" its a round rubber thingy that fits right in your soundhole, and eliminates the problem.

If you do decide to get an under saddle pickup make sure its one with an ACTIVE PREAMP, becuase it gives the guitar alot more depth and punch.

Yea, I'm going to get a rare earth fishman and prolly a sure 57A/58A. I have a Neo D but it is just a single coil and it has to be aimed just right so that it doesn't pick up any hum.
