Unread post by tomek322 » Sun Oct 05, 2003 7:27 pm

I have been playing for about 2 years... I currently have an Ibenez AW-100... I am thinking about upgrading.... I am looking for a guitar with a sligthly wider neck... no bigger that 1.75... my guitar is a biatch to fingerpick... can anyone suggest something...

I personally would agree with Trippn.. I know its not in the same range, but i'm thinking about going with a Martin DXK2 Koa.. i've played 2 of them, they both sounded amazing.. next time i get to play one i'm doing a full inspection on them.. so :)
They are $469.99 at most places, they sound amazing to me, so if i wanted to spend the extra 200 bucks, i'd go with the d-15 like trippn said..

Here's my first plug for my Larrivee.

I bought a Larivee OM-3 a couple of months ago, and it has been the greatest purchase I think I've ever made (with my ipod a close second). The action is buttery, the tone is very balanced (more bassy than the Taylor's in this price range, and the highs just sing). Here are the specs: http://www.larrivee.com/content/product ... M03MH0.php
Its an OM so the body is absolutely perfect for fingerpicking, yet it projects great volume and bass, which for me was unexpected.

The list is around 1100, but of course noone pays list. I worked the dealer down to 700 w/case. Try one out if you get a chance. I love this guitar.

My baby disagrees with you. But it's not that difficult to change, even if you don't have strong enough fingers for Martin-factory action. Besides, this year, Martin has started shipping all of their guitars with lower action from the factory.
