Someone want to play a guitar for me...
I'm looking at buying a new stage guitar, and I'm thinking about picking up one of these guys.

I was hoping maybe someone around these boards might know of a guitar shop in their area that carries them, and if so if they could fiddle around with it for a few minutes and give me their thoughts on it. I'm not after playing it unplugged in the least, so I'm really not too worried about it's thin body and how it sounds acoustic. This will be my stage guitar, and I want something that can put up with abuse night after night and is able to withstand it. I'd do it myself, but no one in my area carries it, and the nearest guitar center (where I'm pretty sure they have them) is about three hours away. Thanks for any help.

I was actually looking at that model a few weeks ago. Seemed very nice, felt very light. Though it had a small body, it had a big sound. Very rich, typical Martin sound. The action was very fast and pretty low, which I personally like.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask, but I only played it for ~10 minutes. I'll try to answer any questions that you have though.
My overall feeling was that the guitar was very high quality, but I didn't really care for the shape. (The telecasterish cutaway.)

Well I play in a folkish bluegrassish pop band (thats how we describe ourselves anyway...think Nickel Creek) so I was unsure about whether it would have enough bass to fill out our sound being so thin. We're playing without a bassist for the time being, so that was an issue I was a little worried about. What was your impression of it unplugged by the way? Even though I wont be playing it that way very often I guess it's still an issue.

I guess thats a good thing then. I'm still up in the air really between this guy and a Larrivee Spruce/Mahagony D-03 Dred with some sort of fishman in there. They'll both be around the same price.....I guess I just need to find some place that carries them both. I know the Larrivee would probably fit our style better, but I'm really rough on guitars. I cracked my 000-15 Martin in three places before I traded it back to the store for something else. I'm just thinking this Martin would really withstand some abuse because of its weird back and side material. I may actually still look at an Epiphone Chet as well (and no not because of Dave Matthews) because I really want something small...and to tell you the truth I like instruments that are a little different. I'd pretty much do anything for a Gibson Chet, Godin A-6, Crowdster, or a Renaissance, but there all a little out of my price range. That Martin to me seems like its their equivalent to the small body Acoustic Electric market, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I have a Martin that has no inlays, but still has dots on the binding. I guarantee that this is the same.m98ter wrote:Also, if anyone happens to see one of these out. I know they don't have dot inlays on the fingerboard, but I was wondering if they have the small position inlays on the top edge of the neck as your hoplding it in playing position?
