Anyone know why Dave switched to Taylors?

Want to ask about strings, maintenance, amps, mics, or comparisons of different guitars or any music equipment? This is for all threads related to music equipment.

what? that makes no sense..

And to actually answer the OP's question, it's because Taylors have a much brighter high-end than Martins, which allows him to cut through the rest of the band. It's the "signature" Taylor sound. Some people love it, some people don't. I think it's clear Dave prefers Martins when he's not in a band situation with other requirements than just how it sounds to him.
I wouldn't say it is "clear" that Dave prefers Martins when he's not in a band situation. He played his taylor at the solo farm-aid gigs and he played his taylor at Benoyara Hall wich was also a solo gig. So who knows why he switches up when he does...

If I were him I don't think I would ever put down his DM3MD, that is a sweet guitar :D
the taylor he plays in those sitations is his raised b gutiar.
Dude, I don't mean to be rude but you always seem to talk out your ass. If you're not sure, just dont say anything.
actually the way he worded it didnt say full sets, he infact does use a 714 for raised b. so its not talking out my ass, its not understanding what he said

Dave only played his 914 at Benaroya but whatever. It was just an observation.
