played lots of new gear today...

Unread post by firedancer86 » Fri Aug 22, 2003 1:19 pm

well I went in to pick up some poly's when I saw a revoiced Taylor 710!!!

Picked it up and man! GOODBYE MARTIN!!!
I wanted to plug it in, but I had other things to do...

then I picked up a $3,500 Martin...bleh...it put out LESS sound than the new 710, and was clumbsy feeling...

then I went on to the elctric play area, and saw a LINE 6 Variax (the ones withthe new digital pickups)... AMAZING  ...I have a new electric to recomend...there are like 50 distinct tones and pickup types for the TELE, STRAT, LP, BANJO, JAZZ, RESONATOR, SITAR...and especially for the price tag of $999.99!!!

I played that Line 6 through a $1000 Line 6 electric amp monster!!! That is what I would buy if I played out with my LP more often...amazing controls and sound...just astounding

anywho, so it was a cool day...I wish I could spend hours and hours there though   8)

OUCH, that was below the belt. What a ruthless attack toward Martin.

Thats what makes the world go round though :)

I have yet to try out a Martin or a Taylor, but I guess people feel really strongly one way or the other.

I tried all that line 6 crap a couple days ago. Screw it...it still doesn't sound as good as the real thing and unless you're an ultra ADHD guitarist, you don't need to sound like a million different guitars. that variax just sounded cheap and I can't stand the way there amps are set up. Same with this pod thing...I just picked up the new pod xt and it's definitely going back. it sounds pretty good when you're recording at getting all those sounds, but for the most part, it's just cheesy and difficult to use. I bought a fender custom shop strat today, I'm happy.
