Strings quesiton

Unread post by fringe » Sat Apr 23, 2005 11:24 pm

I got a new guitar for christmas...it's worlds better than i deserve right now, but it was a gift...

this is a link to it -

my question is this - right now i have elixir lights on it, but i'm finding that they buzz a lot more than my old strings which were silk and steels - this is the first time i've put brass strings on, so is it all brass strings or the elixirs? also does anyone have any suggestions of what strings to put on that bad boy...i just bought elixirs because they were in the nice section and they came with a free T-shirt :-)

I am going to go out and look at the 00016rGT probably tomorrow. A little different than yours but not much.Does it play good?

The buzzing.....is it like interference buzzing from the guitar or like string noise?

But I would suggust using Martin bronze lights. Its a martin guitar so it should work plus I use them now and there isnt much string noise like scratching and what not.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

its probably because of the action being too low. does that guitar normally come with lights? if not, you wouldve had to adjust the truss rod.

silk and steel - were you using GHS?

and i dont think elixirs are brass... and by the way, elixirs are awesome

my martin buzzed like a mother with lights - might need mediums

hmmm, im pretty sure the strings are bronze, not brass... and if you're having occaisional buzzing issues just switch to a higher gauge, i like diaddarrio mediums
