Replacing Taylor Bridgepins

Unread post by MahlerGrooves » Sat Mar 19, 2005 7:35 pm

I want to replace the plastic shit pins on my 110 with new ebony ones with inlay from Taylor, but their website says they are only for the 300 series and up.

Do you think I could tweak them a little to work in my 110, or should I call Taylor and find out what I would have to do?

I know the ebony won't make a HUGE diff in the sound, but I just find the plastic really is an eyesore and I would like the first think my strings touch to be wood (no jokes about the laminate back and sides please 8) )

Thanks for the help

They are bridge pins, I would think any would fit anywhere. I bought some ebony ones to replace the ones that I had originally, and they fit just fine.

OR! Instead of boycotting an AMAZING guitar company... ;)... you could invest $20 and get an ebony set, lol.

Especially when it is very cheap for them to add ebony bridge pins to the guitars. If anything, it would increase sales.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just make them standard on all their guitars and raise the price the $5 it costs to make them. Nobody would complain about paying SLIGHTLY more for wooden bridgepins...BAD business decision.

Yet here I go to order the set from their website...*sigh*...I am the true sucker.

They wouldn't have to raise the price at all. Considering the amount of profit they make per guitar, it would be nothing to add it for free.

Take Microsoft for instance. They lose about $35 for every unit of XBox they sell. But it costs them such a small amount of money to make each game (about 15 cents a game) and sell it for $40-50 a piece that they are in the profit margin after like 3 games sold. Considering most XBox owners have at least 5 games to up to 50+, they are making a SHITLOAD of money.

Adding ebony bridge pins would raise the quality of Taylor guitars altogether in the minds especially of the low-end user, and they would continue to praise the product to other people, thus raising the frequency of guitar sales.

They would make a LOT of money.
