snapoffmode wrote:the story i heard about clapton's strat is that while on tour in different citites...he would go to pawn shops and buy all the strats...from there he took the parts he like the best.....ergo....Blackie.

anyhow....back to the orignal point...for 1100 you can get a pretty nice rig. if i were you (sorry i forgot your name reading through all the strat bashing), i'd figure out what type of music you wanted to play on it mostly and i'd also figure out if you wanted the single coil or the bucker sound. that'll give you the basic sound of the standards of the industry.....meaning...basic lp and fender, etc... sounds. although teles have single coils, they sound vastly different from strats too. once you get the basic sounds you wanted...then you can fine tune those even further....ie......strats/tele's with humbuckers...etc....all the guitars that everyone listed are pretty good guitars...and each have their faithful following.....i guess it's up to you to figure out which you would like to follow. and despite what *some* idiots have said here...and like their words....my words are just a matter of opinion expressed unnecessarily... ....not all fenders suck. afterall, isn't tone in the ears of the beholder...and the player's fingertips (and rig). so figure out which sound you like best....single coils or buckers....and find the company that suits your needs the best despite what everyone else says. you'll find something that you like....and i can pretty much guarantee that you're going to piss someone off for liking it too....lol.

as far as the amps are concerned....i'd highly recommend a 70's silverface champ or something along those lines...those run only about 200 and they are crystal clear and work well with pedals....and they increase in resale value..... the bj is pretty nice too but a bit muddy to my ears. if you do end up getting a fender though, keep in mind that fender amps were orginally designed to run with fender guitars and so hand in glove type of thinking applies here. get a tube amp too. the current batch of solid states sound fricken aswesome...but they're just lacking something.....and i can't quite put my finger on it...but that' s just me....and i hate to follow the old cliche type of thinking but it's true....go out and play EVERYTHING you can in all combinations...because you''re going to find one that you just can't live without.

good luck and have fun discovering what works for you....=)
hope that helps!

ps.
yes my grammar is poor
yes my spelling is poor
yes i play a fender guitar through a fender amp
yes john mayer is a better guitarist than dm.....it's quite obvious isn't it?

Haha I've stopped coming to this thread a long time ago. HOWEVER, this reply was amazing. Thanks for the good info that everyone can use.
