you are an idiot. I would say I see more "metal heads" playing Jackson's Ibanez's and GIbson's... not to say that i haven't seen fenders. But I have also seen SRV, Clapton, and many other famous artists play some pretty nice guitar on some stratocasters that I definatley wouldn't consider metal. You should be more concerned about helping someone out and making sure it is clear that what you say is your opinion. You look like an idiot making such broad statements that can be easily refuted. Oh, and in my opinion, are not only has 2 more keys to type than arent. Try it!
Fuck You man. That was completely uncalled for. And Fender Strats are metal head guitars cause they sound like shit unless under heavy distortion. And why are you correcting my grammar its a damn board not english class.

Have you ever listened to hendrix? If so, answer this: Did his guitar sound like shit? Was it ALWAYS under heavy distortion?

Hendrix and Clapton didnt own 500 dollar crappy strats. Infact I doubt that their strats could even be found on the shelves. They were probably either custom made or worth 1000s of dollars. The strats people buy now are like 500 dollar ones and they suck ass.

hendrix owned a marshall plexi. a squier would sound amazing through it.

SRV played a cheap beater he found in a shop. Clapton played a regular strat for years, then he got a custom one known as Blackie. Hendrix played a regular strat. He was a poor black kid when he started out. Just clearing up the loose ends . . .

Now, END THIS STRAT BASHING AND BASHING PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THEIR OPINIONS OF STRATS!!!!!

SHEESH!!!!!!

Calm down people. Isn't this a messege board in which we help eachother, not to be mean and call eachother names for liking or not liking a stratocaster?

I say lock the thread, this is going nowhere, and the place it's at is horrible. Let us drop this argument where it is, leave it, and get back to the peaceful boards that I know of.[/i][/b]

The sound of their guitars are affected by their amps too. The amps can be tweaked. But yeah, lets stop this fender strat bashing thing.

And Pedals help. My Setup is Fener US Highway 1 strat->Boss BD-2->Dunlop Crybaby->Fender 65 Twin reverb reissue

The Amp is very clean and I get all the strat's tone through it (which I happen to like) but with a little tweaking on the Blues Driver I can get many different sounds.

Also, if you don't like a guitar and someone is asking for your opinion on it please feel free to state your opinion. But if someone states that they bought a guitar that you hate please keep your opinion to yourself. It offends me (and probably a few others too) when you say "strats suck don't waste your money on those pieces of poo" when I have enjoyed every one that I have played including the cheapass ones and the high end ones. I am extremely happy with my US Highway 1 strat, even though its the cheapest american made strat I could find. Its very versatile and has a humbucker in the bridge position for high distortion and lead work. I would reccomend it to anyone.

i agree

and its how you use/play the guitar too. Maybe a certain guitar doesnt fit your style. so be it.

the story i heard about clapton's strat is that while on tour in different citites...he would go to pawn shops and buy all the strats...from there he took the parts he like the best.....ergo....Blackie.

anyhow....back to the orignal point...for 1100 you can get a pretty nice rig. if i were you (sorry i forgot your name reading through all the strat bashing), i'd figure out what type of music you wanted to play on it mostly and i'd also figure out if you wanted the single coil or the bucker sound. that'll give you the basic sound of the standards of the industry.....meaning...basic lp and fender, etc... sounds. although teles have single coils, they sound vastly different from strats too. once you get the basic sounds you wanted...then you can fine tune those even further....ie......strats/tele's with humbuckers...etc....all the guitars that everyone listed are pretty good guitars...and each have their faithful following.....i guess it's up to you to figure out which you would like to follow. and despite what *some* idiots have said here...and like their words....my words are just a matter of opinion expressed unnecessarily... ....not all fenders suck. afterall, isn't tone in the ears of the beholder...and the player's fingertips (and rig). so figure out which sound you like best....single coils or buckers....and find the company that suits your needs the best despite what everyone else says. you'll find something that you like....and i can pretty much guarantee that you're going to piss someone off for liking it too....lol.

as far as the amps are concerned....i'd highly recommend a 70's silverface champ or something along those lines...those run only about 200 and they are crystal clear and work well with pedals....and they increase in resale value..... the bj is pretty nice too but a bit muddy to my ears. if you do end up getting a fender though, keep in mind that fender amps were orginally designed to run with fender guitars and so hand in glove type of thinking applies here. get a tube amp too. the current batch of solid states sound fricken aswesome...but they're just lacking something.....and i can't quite put my finger on it...but that' s just me....and i hate to follow the old cliche type of thinking but it's true....go out and play EVERYTHING you can in all combinations...because you''re going to find one that you just can't live without.

good luck and have fun discovering what works for you....=)
hope that helps!

ps.
yes my grammar is poor
yes my spelling is poor
yes i play a fender guitar through a fender amp
yes john mayer is a better guitarist than dm.....it's quite obvious isn't it?

oh sorry...i got caught up in the stupid part of the post and overlooked the useful part. a couple of posters asked what kind of music you wanted to play on your electric and that helps steer you in the direction of pick ups...which helps greatly in the steering you in the direction of what type of guitar will suite you because of the sound they produce. those are good questions/advice from them...=)
