Jared, the last time I took advice from someone on DMBTabs (dmbfanjason) I found myself playing guitar in front of a mirror in my underwear with a hard on....and I swore I would never listen to you people again. But here goes...

I called home and dumped my wife.
I told my daughter she is on her own for a while and to figure out how to pay for her own education.
I regestered at Ebay.

Wait...there is no DM3MD's listed on Ebay...I called all the contacts I had when I was previously going to buy one...but they are all sold...THERE'S NONE OUT THERE!!!

Now I'm without a wife, and I can be damn sure my daughter will not take care of me when I'm old and gray...I feel just like I did in front of the mirror in my underwear with the guitar around my neck...YOU GUYS SUCK!!!

Just kidding...go for it jared.. its a good guitar!

I recently purchased a DM3MD this past April. I found it by replying to owners at Taylor/Martin forum sites. I guess my main motivation for the purchase was sentimental, owning something specifically designed and played by DM is very attractive to a longtime fan.

I would consider my playing skills average, and I find the DM3MD easy to play. My comparison is with a Taylor 314ce, it's hard to imagine that such a little difference in nut size (no comments) is noticable but none the less both are great guitars. The sounds are very different, both good for DMB songs.

Just my .02

cool man...

but are you comparing a DM3MD with a Taylor 314ce? :?

I don't see a bookmatched Indian Rosewood back with a Engelman Spruce top (DM3MD) comparing with a Sapele backed and Sitka top (314)...not to mention body dimensions...

just curious :)

My comparisons are in the playability of both guitars. I've read several comments about how difficult the DM3MD neck is to navigate, I'm just saying I havn't noted a big difference. Some fingerpicking songs can be a challenge, but all in all a very playable guitar.

No question that the DM3MD has a unique deep rich sound, my Taylor is much brighter. I had a bone nut/saddle installed right after purchase in my DM3MD, made a big difference lowering the action and improved the sustain.

I have #81, kind of a cool number in that it is 3x3x3x3, a play on the number three. The workmanship is awesome and it came with a pickup installed, plugged in wakes up the babies!

This rumor had surfaced a year ago or so (it was supposedly going to be a martin) - but nothing ever came of it, so who knows.

Anyway, they're not really that hard to get. With some patience you can find em. I've seen 2 on Ebay quite recently. I think the last one went for $3400 ish.

Good luck.
John Mayer actually recorded parts of that damn Wonderland song with his DM3MD...

...just a thought...
