String question...

Unread post by DMBFan63 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 8:00 am

I own a carlo Robelli(pretty decent for 200 bucks) crb-35... I'm wondering what type of strings I should use.. its an accoustic electic, so I've tried electric and accoustic strings, neither set(ernie ball strings for electric and martin strings for accoustic I beleive) neither set sounds good... any tips>

acoustic electric simply means it has pickups... its still an acoustic guitar. youre gonna need to use acoustic strings. martin strings SUCK! most people here will either recommend you elixirs (my personal favorite, expensive though) or d'addarios.

Umm, dont use electric strings on acoustics even if it is an acoustic electric. Try Elixir Nanowebs, Martin SP's, D'Addario's. Depends on wether you like coated or uncoated strings. Most people here are split between Elixirs and D'Addarios, try a search on these boards or research on the net. Try out the more popular ones and then make your own decision, it all depends on your own taste in the end, whatever sounds good to you.

I personally like D'Addario's, others swear by Elixirs - if you like coated, D'Addario EXP16's, if you like uncoated or have no preference, get the EJ16's.
