i was wondering if anyone could answer a question i have. i changed strings on my standard strat the other day and i noticed that the bridge is really high. I was wondering if that could cause any problems.

if the tremel bar is comming out of the body, ummm hell yes! get the strings off, un-screw the end-peices a little to lower the action, and put on a lower gauge of strings.

get the guitar store to add more springs in the back to reinforce the bridge. If you don't use the trem bar at all, consider getting your bridge blocked so it doesn't move. I did it, and my guitar stays in tune a lot better now. what guage strings are you using?

my washburn has the trem pulled up a little bit at all times, it hasnt caused any serious tuning problems and i can trem higher too not just lower.
btw you can put new springs on yaself

If it's up too high, tuning will be the least of your worries. It will screw up your intonation, the neck, and possibly do some damage to the body of the guitar.

holy shit, 1/4 inch, get that off, itll make your tremel bar crooked, youll lose tuning, the tremelo could just completly be removed from the guitar, i say removed, i mean ripped.

the same thing happened to me when i changed strings. all you gotta do is open up the back, and tighten the screws. that'll lower the bridge.

oh, and don't forget to loosen the strings first.

... okay... first of all i dont really care about my washy, been tryin to sell it... second of all i have a buddy with a fender strat and the back of the bridge is always like 3/4 of an inch off the body. I thought it was just a matter of taste, he cant even trem lower he just trems higher
and hows it gonna get ripped off? im confused are we talking about nthe same measurement.... (its out of proportion but you get the idea
