so my band needs some mics and pa system, needs to be affordable, and its just for practice so it doesn't have to be really loud or anything, wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what to look at for the pa system and brand of mics?

all you need is mics, powered mixer and a couple good speakers. This was will keep it cheap.

like speakers i would hook up to my surround sound system? or are they different kinds of speakers?

same thing, because they are unpowered.. the big receiver thing is the amp for your homestereo
if you are just using it for practice, just hook the mics up to amps
