I'm not putting down their products but I thought more people would rather get a custom, hand made guitar where they were involved in picking out all the woods and materials that are going to be used.

Maybe it's just me, who knows. Where's Oahu at, I'm sure we're together on this.

To each their own.
didn't I just say that ;) lol. I mentioned how I like Guilds and I love Gibson electrics. I would never want a DM3MD. I wouldn't want a guitar modled for someone else.
Guild and Gibson are still factory built guitars. I do like the Gibson Jumbos and pre-fender guilds, but if I could have any guitar it wouldn't be either of those. I would go with an independent luthier who does the work individually. Something along the lines of John Mayes, Mike Doolin, Ervin Somogyi or countless others.

Carvin Custom 7-String
White
Swamp Ash
DiMarzio Evolution Pickups
24-Fret Fingerboard, Rosewood, Abalone Inlays
Coil Tap for Both Neck and Bridge Positions
Engraved Name on Truss Rod cover
My signiature screen printed onto the finish of the guitar

Also in there...an acoustic, I would give a spanish luthier $2400, and have him make me a nylon string guitar, no lamination on top (kills tone), let him choose the specs for wood and stuff, I know a guy who did that, and that guitar is the most beautiful thing I've ever played. Martin is okay, but so over-hyped, I play Hofner myself.
