Choice of Strings

Unread post by somedevil8 » Fri May 07, 2004 10:52 am

So now I have D'Addario lights on my Martin "D". Will I have to make any adjustments if I switch to extra-lights? Just thought I'd try out a different string gauge. Will extra-lights harm the g-tar?

If you're looking to try a new gauge, why don't you go with mediums. They'd probably sound better... :)

i would say play with the thickest gauge that you can comfortably play with... i usually just play lights but every once in a while i switch up to mediums. When I go back to lights i feel like a guitar master for about a week

thinner gauge = less stress on guitar, less stress on hands, worse sounding

thicker gauge = more stress on guitar, more stress on hands, better sounding

Dean Markley Signature Series:

Vintage Bronze Acoustic
&
Nickel Steel Electric

(I havn't pormoted them for a while, so I guess time to start again ;) )

The only other strings I use are the Gibson Flatwires for my jazz guitar.
