IMO a $600 Alaverz is a much better guitar than a $600 entry level Taylor or Martin because your paying for the name at that entry level and Taylor isn't going to have solid back and sides unless above the 300 series.
My friend has a Alaverz fusion and a Taylor 214 and they Alvarez sounds better then a 200 series taylor for half the price. I own a Yairi so I guess I am biased but Alvarez's are great sounding and looking guitars but are overlooked because they are not American Made.
You will find that their Yairi's which are actully all handmande compare very well with a Taylor 810 or Martin D-35. The fact that they are not made in the USA and don't have "Taylor" or "Martin" on the headstock keep the prices down on these fine instruments which is the way I like it and you end up getting alot more for your money.
Saying that, If you are looking into the option of buying a used guitar I would buy a used Taylor 400 series or up over an alvarez.

wouldn't that be pretty pricey? At max. I could only scrounge up 600 dollars. And that's absolute maximum.Mjazk26 wrote:IMO a $600 Alaverz is a much better guitar than a $600 entry level Taylor or Martin because your paying for the name at that entry level and Taylor isn't going to have solid back and sides unless above the 300 series.

How do you get anything about your Martin D-15 out of that statement?

Relax. He just commented that his guitar was solid wood and was under $600. Don't get your panties in a bunch.Mjazk26 wrote:Which is why I said "and TAYLOR isnt going to have solid back and sides unless above the 300 series"TrippnBill686 wrote:Hmm, my $529 Martin D-15 has solid everything.Mjazk26 wrote:IMO a $600 Alaverz is a much better guitar than a $600 entry level Taylor or Martin because your paying for the name at that entry level and Taylor isn't going to have solid back and sides unless above the 300 series.

I wasn't upset at all. It seemed to me he was taking offense to my statement which he quoted and this wasn't the case, I just wanted to point out that I wasn't talking about Martins or his guitar thats all.
Everyone has their own opinoin on what guitars sound better or are better for them. I was just posting my opinion which Im sure as many people agree with just as many disagree.
