Unread post by ryopan » Tue Feb 25, 2003 8:48 pm

alright, ive been playing on a dean playmate guitar (acousitc) for almost 2 years. i think im due another guitar (potential birthday gift?). what would you all suggest to be a great intermediate players guitar taht is not going to totally break the bank. this is going to be my 2nd axe so i wanna plan this out a bit(birthday is in late august). im kinda interested in an electric acoustic but there is also an amp factor in there too. what is yalls first "good" guitar?

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

some good acoustics are ovations.. the sound is somewhat good for the price but the back sucks... its not the best guitar to sit down and play. im really picky about acoustics though. i compare everything i play to my guitar and some other taylors. you cant by a guitar like mine.. its inherited :P

GOODNESS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

never buy an ovation...they are way too boxy and with the fiberglass back, i havn't played a one that had good tone...besides, like Shane said, you can't really sit down and play them without them slideing off your lap...

just my opinion, but i would use my money elsewhere...(sorry about that shane  )

not a problem. i myself would never buy one.. not after playing those taylors. but they are cheap and better than most cheap acoustics

Boxy? the back of an ovation is as round as possible. They are anything BUT boxy. Although I don't like the sound they put out, they aren't boxy at all.

i have no clue what you can get for less than 300... you might wanna wait until you can get something better?

actually a friend of mine has a nice celebrity series one he got for around $600.. its got the leafy lookin art on the body around the soundholes which are to the left and right of the neck.. its not that bad, but for the price you cant get much better.. at least not around here
