What bitrate do you set Cool Edit (or whatever other program you use) to record at? I set mine at like 32000 and then compress it after editing... just wondering what you guys use

thats not actually the bitrate, thats the frequency

i record at 16, frequency = 44100 (that's the frequency used on CD's and I burn my stuff to CD's...don't really feel like resampling)

I record at 16, save it as a large ass wave file then I use my prog to make it into an mp3 and I set the bit rate to 128-192 depending on importance.

I record at 24 bit, 96000 samples per second. This allows me to do funky editing stuff without worrying about reduction of quality. It is a whole lot easier to downsample than it is to clean up a shoddy recording.
Oh, this is with SB Audigy Plaitnum w/ KX driver package, and CEP 2.0.

True, but normally you can get away with doing it at 16. Plus if you burn it to a cd you can only do 16 anyway, but I guess for editing purposes, it might be nice to hear it at 24 bit.
