Ive been playing a lot lately and my strings are old as dirt. Time to buy a new pack for the first time in a while, cant wait to have them on. I always feel like my guitar doesnt sound too bad because it just slowly gets flat with the old strings, then when I tune up the new ones Im amazed at how awesome it sounds with a new set on.

Elixir Nanoweb Light/Mediums ftw btw.

I haven't found a perfect string yet, I've been searching for 14 years. Let me know when you find the magical Phosphor Bronze

I like Martins, but they dull very quickly

Yes. I do switch it up and get the polywebs a lot, too. I love how slippery they are!

Cant do Poly's, it feels like someone KY'ed my guitar and if Im doing a tricky chord or big stretches my hand can kinda slide out of position.

I prefer Martin phosphor bronze mediums, you gotta change them more often than coated strings but they are a third of the price.
I have those two and I was wondering before I go out and by D'addarios, do the Martins sound good for dave? I have the light phospher bronze

I actually take a cue from Neil Young, and keep my electric strings rusty, never change them. He claims its a key part of his tone, and I think it gives me a little more crunch and slows down my playing. I sometimes suffer from too-many-notes syndrome. I like ernie balls.

My acoustic, thats another story. I change those strings every 10 days.

The D'addario website says Dave uses ECG26's, EHR340's, and EXP16's. The EXP16's look really nice, and for a nice price. I'm going to try them.
