Re: Got a Martin HD-35
Martin DC-16RGTE seems pretty popular around here.
Larrivees and Alvarezs get good press too.
I love my Taylor 410 but its a limited edition with higher end woods/additions and I got it for a steal from a guy that had only had it for 6 months and needed to sell it.
Try going back to the guitar store and play around if you really feel like you need something cheaper. Try to find something that still blows away the Fender and holds a candle to the HD-35, its bound to be out there.

Re: Got a Martin HD-35
Im trying to find out how much a decent amp will cost me along with the DL-4 so I can go from there on the price of the guitar to look for. Any suggestions?

Ok, so basically you'll have about $1800 to spend on a guitar and an amp.
Have you played many electrics? Do you have any current opinions? Single coils vs humbuckers?

Oh, confusion. Why do I keep thinking electrics.
Anyway, Ultrasound is pretty much the way to go for acoustic amps.

Re: Got a Martin HD-35
What is a fairly average price for that kind of amp. This will be used in my bedroom for the most part so I don't think it needs to be a huge amp, but I want it to get a good sound and be able to keep the loops as clean as possible. Thanks for all the help by the way, I appreciate it

The AG-50DS4 is probably a good choice. I have the old DS3 and it is amazing.
If you want a real pure sound you should check the AER, but those are pretty expensive...

Re: Got a Martin HD-35
If the monsoon outside will calm down a bit I'm gonna go check everything out here pretty soon. Thanks for the help. The amp will pretty much, if not entirely, just be for home use to practice with the effects so I think Im going to go with a cheaper amp so I can more money for the guitar. What are your thoughts on the AG-30?

I have never tried one, but it should be pretty nice in terms of sound too. Check the input/output options though. They might be more restricted than the DS4.

Re: Got a Martin HD-35
If your looking for a cheap at home acoustic amp I would look into this http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBATA35
I have played through that a few times and it is a very good amp for the money. You could pick up a used DL4 for around 150-175 maybe and that would leave you with a solid $1500 for a guitar. If you can swing a used one, for your 1500 leftover budget, I would look into a 16 series with the Aura system built in as Jsgksu suggested. So many options to play with to tweak your plugged in sound with that system.

The mahogany version is great as well but it does not have the aura system. Do some research in the aura, my guess is you wont be disappointed in what it has to offer! Good luck friend

Re: Got a Martin HD-35
Well I've pretty much been a spaz about this the last few weeks and pissed off every guitar salesman in cincinnati which I do feel bad about, but hey its my 2 grand I shouldn't settle. I took the HD35 back and got a Larrivee LD03 and an amp with a few pedals. After having it for about a week, I liked it but I realized that having the HD-35 was much more important to me than the rest of the gear. When I went back to the store I was fucking around and played a Gibson Hummingbird and fell in love. So thats what I got. I could not be happier about it. What started out as a complete impulse buy (stupid I know), ended up being the best purchase I have made. Ive been working three jobs and going full time for quite a while now so fuck it, I've lived on alot less money than I have now, and student loans are on the way. If I can ever get ahold of a digital camera I will be glad to post some pictures. I took a few at home then couldn't find the cord, Im working on it. Thanks for all the help though everyone.
