Sorry for taking so long. They're built like tanks, but Ive heard some complaints with the sound you get from them. Some people say it sounds fake/"plasticy". Ive never tried one, but I thought about getting one as well. Im gonna go with a Line6 amp and a shortboard though most likely.

All Line 6 products are "plasticy"

Garbage digital signals. Dont waste your money if you have any appreciation for tone.

Unless you have a studio with acoustically perfect rooms, thousands of dollars worth of microphones, great guitars and amps...there is no point to searching for "pure" tone.

If you are recording on your computer, the pod is fine and will get the job done.

Awful tone would piss me off if I were playing a live gig OR recording.

It's not awful though. They actually sound just fine in a recording or live setting. What ruins recordings is a lot of unwanted noise which is a major problem with mic'ing amps. And as for live gigs, most likely you are playing through a PA system and unless you all are a bunch of session musicians, sound quality should probably be the least of your concern.

this is horrible reasoning. Since you aren't a pro you shouldn't appreciate good tone?

Line 6 products are what horrible Guitar Center employees push on the ignorant.

Multi effects pedals are generally not as good as the real thing. I suggest staying away from all of them.

Honestly, with the band I plug straight into my amp with nothing but a volume pedal. I hate effects, sorry I'm of no use in that depo.

That's not my reasoning at all. My point is that most people aren't going to capture good tone with shitty home recording equipment and whats more likely is that their recording will be ruined by things like electronic hum and other white noise.

I'm just saying, home recording is what it is. You are better off minimizing unwanted noise than searching for pure tones.

Did some "research" on this GT10 thing...seems really legit, it turns out my jazz teacher plays an older model, he loves it. I may end up getting one, but it is rather pricey. There are some awesome things you can do with the dual effects chains and harmonizers. The 38sec looping thing is very nice also.
