what other sh#@ do I need???
So my buddies and I finally started a band if you will. We're all decent, but for now just trying to learn some covers. Until now we all almost exclusively played acoustics and never plugged in much. Now we are playing electrics. All we have right now is the electric guitars and crappy amps. What type of pedals, effects, and all that shit should we get to start? All opinions welcome. I'm willing to invest some money seeing that I am now out of college with a real job. Thanks

In terms of effects and pedals, it really depends on the style of your sound.
Anyway, there are typically two main options: to buy several pedals for the different effects (1 Delay + 1 Distortion + 1 Chorus + 1 Wah + 1 Volume...) or get a multi-effect pedal. I would say that buying each pedal individually is much better and opens an all set of opportunities, but it is much more expensive.

Ok, real basic. Get a boss CS-3 (compression sustainer), an Ibanez tube screamer or the digitech bad monkey (crunch and lead) and a boss DD-3 (delay).
Those are all really decent pedals. Obviously you need to upgrade your amps but thats a big investment.

Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?
