Wow, not two seconds ago I just posted my finished acoustic guitar that I just built. Anyways, mine was from a kit from StewMac.com. It is the Spruce/Rosewood Dreadnaught kit. It was actually a great place to start for me, because the sides came bre-bent and the soundhole pre-cut, and neck pre-shaped. You still have to build 85% of the guitar, but some of the more difficult and tedious tasks are taken care of. You might go that route for your first build just to get the hang of the routine for making the guitar. I can tell you I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do by building my first. It took a solid 3 months of work, but it was very enjoyable.
Let me know if you have any specific questions or want me to post pics of my build process. I documented the entire build with pics, and have them if you need. Also, you might check out http://www.kitguitarforum.com and http://www.kitguitarbuilder.com for some info on building kits and what not. There is a great guy on there named John Hall, I believe his name is, who pieces together custom kits for people. He is a guitar builder that Martin deals with, so the guy is very respected and has tons of information that he's willing to dispense all the time. Anyways, sorry for the ramble, but trust me, guitar building is a disease that only gets worse. I'm beginning my second build soon, a 12 string jumbo (modeled after a Taylor W65)made of macassar ebony with a bloodwood insert in the back (DM3MD, HD35 style) and spruce top. I just plan on taking a little more time with this build, however, and not rush like I did with the first one. Good Luck

Okay, so its been a while since I updated anything mainly because I haven't bought anything recently. I am still buying tools before I start building. Yesterday I bought a Festool Hepa dust collector (woodworking for any period of time can give people serious asthma, and since I am doing this in my house, I wanted to be safe), a Festool Random Orbital Sander, and a Nicholson #50 Rasp yesterday. Hopefully I will have the everything else I need by New Year's and will be able to start in Jan.

Re: Building a Guitar
I got pretty much everything I need to start building. I am off for another week from work so I am actually going to start building jigs this week...and hopefully start building the guitar.
I will start a new thread when I actually start the guitar. Its going to be either an OM or small jumbo (olson shape). Top is cedar, b/s are east indian rosewood.
