Should I Buy: Taylor 410 ?

Unread post by rtl4500 » Sat Oct 20, 2007 4:54 pm

Hey guys,

I stumbled into a 1998 Taylor 410 at a local pawn shop. The guitar is in absolutely beautiful condition and the only problem I could find was a minute crack in the bridge. I'm sure it's just due to stress and it doesn't affect the sound as far as I can tell--it sounds great. The price is $425 for the guitar with the original taylor hardshell case. What do you guys think?

I'm in search of a high quality guitar for somewhere around 800 dollars and I thought that this could be a potential steal. Thanks for any help.

That's pretty good, I would like to have a luthier look at that crack to make sure its not going to get worse and maybe even be repaired. Still, for 425, I don't see how you could go wrong.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Just get a luthier's opinion on the crack. If its something that could damage the guitar further, look at getting it fixed. But considering a Taylor 410 normally goes north of $1000(?) that seems like a very good deal.

Might be over a week late on this but i'll throw in my 2 cents... I own a taylor 314 that was selling for $1600 (i paid less because i worked at the music store) and the 400 series is even a step above mine, so if you can get that guitar for that price i'd say go for it. Just use good judgment on that crack and try to give an educated guess on how serious it is...

hey guys,

I appreciate the help, I picked up the guitar for $425 including tax and with the hardshell. The crack is less than a millimeter long and is not a problem. The guitar sounds absolutely beautiful with a fresh set of elixirs. Thanks for helping me buy this beautiful instrument![/i]

That is a fucking steal. I can't remember the exact model, but there was some limited edition 410ce that I thought was the best guitar I've ever played. Good choice.
