i play by ear and would like to know if there is a program or software that i can hook up to my electric or acoustic to show me what i am playing (that is either write out the notes or tell me the chords that i play)

I have heard of that with keyboards because they are midi capable but not with guitars. Just buy a tuner, a good one will tell you what note you are playing, it will just take longer.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?
