I just don't like anything about Guitar Center. All the employees are assholes and their selection generally is pretty marginal.

Sweetwater and Musician's Friend, in that order, I think would be better choices. Sweetwater's service is second to none. Calling can often yield better prices too. Not always, but it's worth a shot.

Isn't musiciansfriend associated with GC?

GC can be hit or miss, its usually miss, but i did find one guy at my store who knows his shit so i make sure to deal with him only.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Yeah, I've had mixed experiences at Guitar Centers. My last visit was great. The employees were super friendly and helpful.

I usually find that I know more than the employee helping me at GC. They usually have to read the tag/box before they can answer my questions.

I decided to buy my loop station from Musician's Friend mainly to save the sales tax. Sales tax on $250 would have been $12.50 here. I had asked GC if they'd give it to me for $250 including tax and they declined. Oh well...

By the way, what's Sweet Water's turnaround time for shipping? I've never used the 2-day or next day shipping from MF, but I always have my stuff within 2 days. Is Sweet Water that fast?

Sweetwater is very quick. Easily comparable to MF, and a lot nicer in my opinion.

And they send you candy with your order.

We purchased a wooden music stand from MF. One of the legs would not hook on properly.........called and told them about it and they sent us a new one at no cost and did not ask us to send the other one back.

Now we have two, we were able to rig the other one to get the leg to stay on.

Very nice people.........but no candy :) ........sue

Musiciansfriend is the internet store side of Guitar Center. So if you don't like Guitar Center, then.....

I've never had a huge issue with GC, I just prefer to shop online for big purchases to save on the sales tax. The reason I usually know more than the salesperson helping me is the fact that I research the shit out of anything I'm looking at buying, though it is a bit irritating when they can't answer the questions that I do have.
