The only one that plays is Crash... Anyway for some constructive criticism. The guitar sounds good. The rhythm is right on. However your voice is naturally higher than DM, and tone wise it's more in line with James Taylor. I think TRYING to get that DM nasal effect just doesn't work for ya. Also the attempts at imitating HIS vocal improvs doesn't help, when you try to duplicate an existing sound it's very hard for it to sound natural. Your voices are way too different, seriously nothing a like. That's not a bad thing either, it doesn't mean your voice is terrible, it just doesn't sound at all like Dave. In my opinion if you didn't try to sound like him your voice would be much improved and it would be a nice cover.

Ya know, I have to disagree with the previous criticisms. I think you maintained your own voice for the vast majority of the song and I think you did a good job. I didn't see you going terribly out of your way to sound like Dave. Quite enjoyable, and very impressive for playing less than a year. I would have guessed you've been playing for at least a couple years. Keep up the good work.

For a person who picked up the guitar 8 months ago the playing was really excellent. There is no way I could play that well with that little practice. I actually thought your voice was pretty good, you didn't go off key or anything. All in all good job, keep postin
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.

I'm being honest for one reason. Because I'm trying to help the guy. I look at this message board as kind of a virtual recording studio. When I'm recording in my real life I've got a sound engineer, an assistant, and whoever is involved playing on the project (bass/drum players) to throw me tons of feed back that gets me the best sound possible for my song. I would really like to hear Mave do another vocal take on "Crash" without the extra vocal changes and improvs that are meant to sound like Dave Matthews. I'm 100% sure it will sound better, the fact is that his voice is nothing like Dave's. He's got a higher voice to work with, so why not get the best sound out of it? Actually, I'd like to see him try and lower his key for some of the song and then when he's out of his range... Raise it up. It will sound different, he will stay on key, and it will give an original feel to it.
Just some advice, I like to hear the best out of everyone.

The link to billies didn't work, Crash was good though, voice sounded good. Strumming was good for the most part, there were a few places where it was a little off but crash is a bitch to play sometimes...right on with the high voice, i'm in the same boat...i used to hate it but i love being able to harmonize like a mofo now. you should try a mraz cover or something...keep it up.

Hey that's a great idea, a Jason Mraz cover would suit him pretty well... Obviously given that he doesn't do those extra vocal things intended to sound like Matthews. Sorry if I didn't sound encouraging cause I'm not trying to walk all over the efforts made, hell my voice isn't perfect either. But I do like to see the best out of people and I think Mave can do much better than this.
