Studio Quality DMB Covers

Unread post by cpowell747 » Wed Feb 18, 2004 8:02 pm

Hey everyone! I have gone back and rerecorded most of my cover songs and now all of them are studio quality! Check them out and let me know what you think of the quality. Most of these songs were recorded with pro tools. Thanks!

Very nice!
It's great to see someone who's putting effort into their recordings. I only listened to typical situation but from what I heard of that I will make sure to check the others out too.
Your playing was great but you fell out of time ever so slightly.
The only thing lacking was some vocal polish. Don't get me wrong I liked your voice very much but there's loads of potential in it. Another thing you did well was make the vocals more your own as opposed to singing it exactly like Dave. Cheers to that.
I don't know if there are originals up there but you should post them.

I agree w/ MWR... very nice! Great quality on the recordings, good guitar playing, and your voice sounds like your own, not Dave's. Very good!

The Pearl Jam cover was really good. Anyone that doesn't like that song is crazy!

just to let everyone know, the vocals on Typical Situation were done by a friend of mine. That is the only song that I didn't do the vocals on. My friend that did the vocals for that one also played all of the lead guitar.

Typical situation: seemed like it was blazing...felt fast...still, I thought it was a great cover. Took me a while to get used to the voice, very wavery. The only part that could use a little improving was very late in the song, though he hit high notes surprisingly well and it felt very on key, kudos to your friend he must have a good musical ear.

Christmas Song: liked the singing on it, though sometime slightly improved lyrics sounded a bit out of place. I think the guitar slaps were too pronounced, it should be a light rythm but it took away from the notes and it became all I was hearing, which is bad since the guitar playing was quite good!

Overall you have some great covers on there! Thanks for sharing with us, i'm anxious to see more, you have plenty of talent!

great job on typical...the vocals were very nice...the guy sounds like Counting Crows...definitely a compliment. guitar was definitely too fast but kept the pace throughout the song...definitely gonna check out your other stuff.

I enjoyed them a lot. Unlike most, your voice seems to fit with Dave's music very nicely. Also, the quality was exceptional. Other than the bass being a bit overwhelming every once and a while (which I’m sure you couldn’t do much about), it sounded awesome. I'd love to hear some originals from you. :D

I gotta honestly say I'm impressed with some of your work, especially Spoon. You did a great job on that song! Few errors I noticed from the songs I listened to. Keep up the covers, your voice suits the material very well, and you're one of the few guitarist/singers who are actually any good on this site.

good stuff man, Spoon sounded real good, your voice is a lot better than I thought it would be, I wanna hear I'll Back You Up with vocals, cuz the guitar sounded tight!
