New Original: "The Move Back"

Unread post by horsmar15 » Thu Feb 12, 2004 8:24 pm

Hello again, back with a new original. This one took me a little longer to write than most of my other songs, and hopfully it shows :D . Check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Fine work. You have almost full control of your voice. I can't believe I haven't noticed your work yet... I'm glad I checked this one out. The main progression works well for the song and your voice blends well with it. I'm impressed. The song sounds honest - way to be true to yourself.

That was real nice man. I wish I could sing like that. One of the riffs in there reminded me of a Dave song. All and all that was Jam Up man!

Can I ask what is your recording setup? Cause the quality was really nice.

Thanks for the replies so far, to answer the question, all i really have is a crappy dell computer mic, and cool edit 2000 software. Basically, the track you hear is me playing live infront of my computer, with a little added reverb. Somehow I get descent quality out of it.

it sounded great, you have a really nice voice and that was a good solid guitar part. Great job!
also, This is a great song to add drums to, for some reason it just sounds like it would be a good song for a drummer as well-

You get some good sound out of that setup. I have a bunch of junk and I never get a good recording like that.

Good job man!

i like it man the lyrics fit the music quite well....never out of key either, i really enjoyed it, i would also concur that drums would be sweet or maybe a nice clean electric riff in there somewhere would fit great...keep em commin gpeace

Thanks for the replies, I wish I could add drums but I don't know a drummer. I do have a dijembe but i don't think it would work well with the track

Nice work man :-) Love that guitar riff. Get some bass, drums, and a shaker on that and you've got yourself a demo song. :)

That was really good man. I like that song a lot!
You should try to add some harmonies to the verse the second time it comes in("I told her..")
- it would fit nicely I'd say...
With Cool Edit you should be able to do that...

sounds alright.. except the main riff has a blatant rip from Stay or Leave.. and some of the chords through the bridge sound like they are blatant rips of the chorus from Stay or Leave, as well.. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics.. they flow at least, since my attention wasn't drawn.. I think you are lying about your recording equipment though ;) I'm pretty good at sound engineering and even my cheap-o mic couldn't sound that good.. sounds more like an average dynamic vocal mic, rather..

I can tell you that i'm not lying about my setup again, but ya probably won't belive me. I wish I had a digital camera to take a picture to prove it to ya. Oh well, anyways i've never even learned how to play Stay or Leave on guitar so I don't think I had any influence from that song, it just might have ended up sounding that way. Also, my song is in open D tuning so there is another difference right there.
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.
