First recording (need comments): April, Come She Will

Unread post by rand » Wed Jan 21, 2004 2:26 pm

I've been playing guitar for a while now but I've always had trouble singing...I think I've gotta be somewhat tonedeaf :? I just have trouble staying in key.

Well anyway, here's my first attempt at posting something; its a Paul Simon tune. I may have played the song a bit differently than the original cuz I can't really remember exactly how its played, but its close enough. And there are like 2 or 3 messups (personally, I think my voice just sucks but oh well). Enough excuses though...tell me what you guys think

thanks :P

P.S. sorry about the quality - I used an mp3 player/recorder to record it...

Hey welcome to the boards! I listened to your track and had some thoughts on it. The guitar playing was pretty good, even though I am not too familiar with the song. The vocals do need some work though as you stated. I don't think going off key is your real problem though. You need to work on singing with more confidence and more volume. You seem to be going off key because you don't seem to be confident with hitting the note. Try to learn the proper vocal breathing techniques and really sing with conviction. I'm sure with some practice you'll learn how to sing in key sooner than you think. Anyhow, strong effort and keep posting with your progress.

Yeah I realized this song would be tough since its a quiet one...and I'm already quiet as it is. But was the singing more or less in tune? Cuz I really can't tell sometimes.

thanks for the reply btw

Hey just heard the song.. Nice song to choose. I agree with horsmar, you got to trust yourself when you sing but i think your voice fits the song really well.. Keep us updated..

I don't have my headset hooked up so i had to use my speakers , which i can't turn up too high , its late here  but from what i heard it sounded good :) You might fall out of key some places , i couldn't really tell , but if you did , just practice thats all it takes :) Practice practice practice :) You'll get it
