Computer Recording for Dummies?
So i just got my new acoustic-electric alvarez (pd80sc) and i wanna record some stuff on the computer. I did a search and found a few threads on the subject but i have no clue what alot of it is saying...if anyone can help me out with what i need and explain it as if they were talking to a two year old it would be great. I've never recorded anything so i i have no clue where to start besides the mic and cool edit...thanks...

The soundcard (if you have a decent one in your computer) has several audio inputs to plug into.
To break it down really simply:
1. Plug the mic into the soundcard
2. Launch cool edit.
3. Make sure the mic is working
4. Record
If you just recording guitar parts you should really plug the guitar directly into the soundcard. A pre-amp is great cause it boosts the signal before it goes into the computer. What kind of mic did you buy? If it's a cheapie computer mic plug the guitar into the soundcard. If it's an actual mic you buy at a music shop then just play into that.
I'm on a Mac so I can't go in depth about Cool Edit specifically. I'm sure someone here can help you with it. Good luck and congrats on the new guitar.
