OK, so I'm wondering when this shit is gonna happen...I was also thinking that because this contest is based on "best guitarist", I was curious as to how it will be judged. I mean is the guy that has all the effects bullshit and programs and yada yada yada gonna have the edge over someone that doesnt have the money to buy that equipment? To me, it should be like just guitar and vocals and thats it; and if you want to record over 6 times so theres 6 guitars going at once, thats fine with me i guess. But all this shit like underwater effects and thunder and wah wah and mixing on the computer or however the hell you do it, is that really what makes the guitarist? Leave all that shit to hiphoppers and rappers(people with no musical talent,lol)...I mean granted tim reynolds does use effects, but we all have heard him with just his acoustic and know that he's a badass and doesn't have anything to hide using all those effects stuff...I would like to hear some of yall "good guitar players" with just acoustic guitar and singing and that's it...then we will be able to tell if there's a good guitarist behind all that computerized stuff...in some of these songs i have heard, i cant even tell where the hell the guitar even is because of all the other crap going on. You get my respect when you sit down and play and sing your acoustic guitar and thats it...anyone else feel the same way?

P.S. this is not in any way supposed to cut down the people that use effects in their own songs, but in my opinion, it shouldnt be accounted for in the "best guitarist" contest.

Sounds fair to me, Let's strip it down, and hear some acoustic guitar stuff. That's what Dave is all about, anyway, in my opinion.

thats totally fine...im just against all this effects crap that people use to shy away from playing real guitar....lets hear some "real" guitarists, not hiphop artists!

im not in it, but still i have an important question, i think. is it best guitarist, best singer, best combination of the two? because some people can wail but can't play the guitar at all, while some people can shred but have mud for a voice.

Man, that has been my argument from the beginning tico...I have been saying that the contest has to be based on best performance...because when you've got people singing/playing, singing/playing and adding on, and just playing and adding on...the contest really shouldnt be based on best guitarist, but talk to the people in charge because I have no idea on how you are gonna judge this contest by just best guitarist unless you totally discount the singing aspect...

... not really. i do however think there are MUCH better musicians out there... i can come up with a list of 20-30 that i think are top notch
