regarding sharing our Recordings....(dialup)

Unread post by mattm » Fri Oct 10, 2003 6:43 pm

i had raised this issues in the 'Two Step strum' thread, but i'm posting a new topic for all y'all to address, cuz it's been a recurring problem for me (and i imagine, others too).

i'd love to hear some samples of how y'all play certain songs, parts. but i only have dial-up, so large files won't help me much.

how about recording small (60 second) WAV files using the Sound Recorder that comes with all Windows versions. though the sound quality sux, it makes sending and receiving short recordings really easy.... and easy to email as an attachement.

... just create a wav file for each part: intro, verse, chorus etc.

anyone have a better idea for sharing recordings for those with the constraints of dialup?

What songs in particular do you need help with?

well, most of of em, since i can't play any of them Perfectly.

but, dancing nancies to start with. i just can't get that verse to sound quite right.

....maybe start with that, and go from there...... much appreciated.

but in general, if you (others) simply created and saved 'Sound Recorder' .wav files for the most common songs people struggle with .... that would be very cool.

i'll give some thought to other songs i'd like to hear some rec's of.

but in general, is the 'sound recorder' idea a good way to go? seems so to me.

you can get the files even smaller if you convert to mp3.. im pretty sure those wavs are a higher bitrate than mp3

I'll make a nice small clip of whatever you need...unless its one of the few songs I havent bothered learning. (Dont ask me for any songs from Everyday...I dont do those.) Just shoot me a pm and let me know specifically what you want.

Edit: This offer of course stands for anyone reading this thread, not just Matt.

i'm still looking for you skilled dave-players to create Small (mp3) files of each song's parts.... particularly recording's that help in understanding the strum patterns involved.

and make them available for download or email em to me.

whatever dave songs you play well, doesn't matter to me. though i do have my favorites.

anyone? anyone? bueller?

Fatjack: well, how about:

dancing nancies
the stone
bartender
don't drink the water
minarets
two step

and everything else lol

basically i need small-file recordings (of each song part) that really help in understanding the strum patterns involved, rather than the fingering. along with some helpful advice.

can you email them to me, or better yet send and communicate via msn messenger? that would work best for me.

thanks.
