*** JOINT-COVER #2: DDTW ***

Hey all!

A few of us did another collaboration cover. This time it was Don't Drink the Water! The participants were as follows:

Trippin Hillbilly: Lead Vocals
Appsoldier: 6 String Acoustic Rhythm
Roastbeef: 12 String Accompaniment
Roastbeef: Bass

I also did the mixdown with help from geekmug's tutorial. I think it sounds pretty good.

Trippin: As usual you tore the ass out of this thing with your vocals. Freakin' awesome!

Apps: Great job laying a nice solid foundation. You've got the playing skills; you just need to work on the recording quality.

As for the 12 string, it was based off some tab I found for banjo with a whacky tuning. Bela Fleck I am not, but I think the part adds something interesting to the song. I had a lot of fun with the bass. I've only played bass casually with a few bands I've tooled around with. I never sat down and wrote a bass line, but I think it came out pretty decent.

Well, here it is:

Let us know what you think!

that was awesome. way to spring a surprise on us. ;)

everything was great...my only real complaint is that it was a little too mellow sometimes, and a little too bassy which overpowered it a bit.

other than that, KICK ASS!

WELL THANKS FOR TELLING ME!!!

nah, just kidding

good job guys, i enjoyed this immensely, everyone did real well.

the thing was the bass, you played a good riff Roast, but it was REALLY bassy and sounded kinda muddy. no other problems than that

and i REALLY REALLY liked the fingerpicked guitar part that replaced the banjo part. i played that with a band onec and i just love it!

8 out of 10

the highest i've given is an 8.5. guess who got it?

and i gave it an 8 because it showed real good teamwork, individually, the score probably wouldn't have been as good

Miguel, your voice sounds pro here. Exceptional. I hate you for it, and youre an asshole. ;)

The voice sounded great...but the rest was way too jumbled together. I agree with Philip on the need for a clear acoustic in there somewhere. Good job though, and I really did like the guitar picking in place of the banjo.

i'm listening to it right now.... it sounds really great. but i agree with the others. the main acoustic needs to cut through more. I'm ereally anxious to hear trippin bust out that wail towards the end. one of those "and as you go i will spread..." parts kinda squeaked at first but he pulled through. Again, the bass seems a little too much for right now.

WHOA! i love that little "ahhh ooo hahoo a" before one of those and as you go..." parts again.

I've got to say that this sounds great . as a whole this must have been a nice little project. I think you shouldve done a little bartender/DDTW medoly thing.

"I'll build heaven and call this......hooooooommmmmee......" I love it trippin. amazing. i have trouble getting that note. major trouble.

Sounda hardcore at the end boys..... he actually sounds pretty angry style. its great. here it comes............don't drink the waaaaaaaa hey yoo woo hey ya hi, ya hi, ya hi.. nom ya, nom ya, nom ya! ......." lol. fantastic! now i'm spent.

Fabulous! DO IT AGAIN, DO IT AGAIN!

All right. I uploaded a better mix with less bass. I also upped App's guitar a bit. Same file:

http://www.gregblasko.com/dmbtabs/ddtw.mp3

For those that listened to the original mix, can you give this one a listen and let me know if it's better? Thanks!
