this is the first song ive written where guitar is not the main instrument.
let me know what you think
i think its a little strange

the bass was recorded a bit too loudly, and i was too lazy to rerecord it, so it over-modulates here and there

homage to The Who at the end?

Sorry Dan, I didn't realize this was a different thread. It sounds good. Its very different from anything else I listen to but I still liked it. It has a very tribal type sound to it. It sounds like something you would hear in a movie. I thought the bass sounded alright, I only really noticed it being too loud twice. Is that a pretty standard singing voice for you? It sounded a little different from what I remembered, but what stuck out was how well you controlled it. I'm pretty much fighting with my own singing abilities daily and I think control is the hardest part for me, no matter what tone is, I have a hard time keeping it constant. You don't seem to have that problem at all. Other than the bass popping out too much a few times, I thought it was all really well done,I especially enjoyed the lyrics. Keep it up man.

For a long time I was straining my voice, trying to sing outside my range. I have a pretty deep voice to begin with, and I got frustrated about not being able to sing the songs that I wanted to. Also, I just flat out wasn't singing correctly. I've started to get better at these things by staying within my range and really focusing on breathing. It will help with control.ut4ever8 wrote:Sorry Dan, I didn't realize this was a different thread. It sounds good. Its very different from anything else I listen to but I still liked it. Thanks for the encouragement! I feel like my playing is starting to open up a bit and im getting more creative.

Yeah I would definitely say its a creative song. I really like the percussion you have in there. I really want to get some percussion stuff to mess around with. In alot of my songs I can hear where I would want to put it, and Ive been messing around using the back of an acoustic to tap on a little. I think thats my next buy, what are you using? Also I apologize for the shameless plug, but I am impressed with your vocals and I have some stuff in here, if you have some time I'd really appreciate if you could give it a listen and give some input on improving vocals.

Unique, not really my style, but it's well done nonetheless.
