New Recording: Space Between

A little slower tempo then how it usually is, but I think it turned out pretty good

and actually I put it on youtube with some (embarrassing) pictures of myself playing guitar from various times so i wouldn't have to keep uploading the file once it expired. The file is still uploading on YouTube servers, so i'll put direct link soon, but if I don't or you really really feel like listening to it before I do just search for my name, Andrew Graciano

Sounds good Andrew. Really good. I wish I could get my vocals to sound that smooth. Did you do this all in one take? What kind of equipment are you using?

thanks ian. yes, all in one go. I have a Zoom Handy Recorder H2 Stereo Microphone which i plug into the computer via USB and then record through Audacity. Then in Audacity I Normalize the audio (even out the decibels) because usually it comes in too soft because I only use that one mic for both my voice and my guitar. The mic sits on a stack of paperback novels with the mic about 5 or 6 inches away from my mouth... I've tested it many times to make sure you could hear my voice/the guitar as evenly as possible when only using one mic. The guitar is a '03 Taylor 214.

I liked it dude. Very different, not only in the tempo, but in the timing of certain chord changes as well, which definitely made it your song. The only thing I didn't really like was the bridge, it sounded a little off, like it didn't belong. Something about the way the chords blended with the vocals didn't sound right. That being said, the rest was great, made me wanna go listen to the original again. Good work.

thanks tim i'll be sure to work on that. i think what hurt me is i messed up the first chord and that threw me off for the whole thing because instead of just continuing the song on-time i tried to play the right chord and then it just got kinda messy.

That's what it sounded like to me too, like that first wrong chord threw the vocal off, and it just kinda slid right along until you recovered for the final chorus. It's all good though. I gotta get recording again.
