New Original - Played with time signatures on this one

Unread post by afurth » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:17 am

It's called "Neighbor's Wife"

Lyrically, and melodically, its kind of a departure from lots of my other stuff. This song sounds great with the band, too - our new direction on this next album is to create very diverse music tied together by a few common threads.

The main progression is in 4/4, the chorus is in 3/4, and the bridge is in alternating measures of 4/4 and 5/4.

Hope you guys like it:

pretty mellow stuff. The lyrics don't jump out or anything like that but I don't think you want them to do that in a song like this. If you want comments on the lyrics you'll have to post them. I kinda like how it just meanders through, no major breaks, just interludes and slow flows. Pretty good "cruising" music, whenever you want to take it slow. Personally it's a little to slow moving for my taste. But it functions well as a, dare I say it, "chill" song... ugh that word makes me shudder.
Good work though

Well thanks. The word chill bothers me too haha. We say the song "meanders" and then "opens up" - I think the movement to 3/4 in the chorus gives it a driving feeling.
