Audacity question

Unread post by ut4ever8 » Thu Nov 08, 2007 6:00 pm

I made a recording on Audacity. I just have the free version. Can someone tell me how I convert the file to an mp3 or anything that i can post on here?

you might need to get a codec that lets you export to mp3, I think it's called FLAC. just google it.

I figured out a way to do it with Itunes. The cover is posted down a thread. I would really appreciate a listen from someone to at least know if the conversion worked for other people to hear.

No.

I know Ian got his problem figured out, but I must say that FLAC is not at all the same thing as mp3. FLAC encodes to FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec). mp3 encodes to mp3, which is a lossy codec.

For anyone reading this, LAME is by far the best sounding mp3 encoding codec there is right now.

Audacity is a great program if you take the time to learn how to use it. The problem is that the documentation sucks. But once you learn the workflow, it's great.

I use it in post processing for all the shows I tape.

Yep.

I haven't used it in forever, so I might be wayyy off, but maybe Track>New track

You probably want all the tracks to be mono, then sum to stereo at the very end.
