Your recording often saturates and distorts...
Guitar seems ok and you seem have a very nice voice! (tough falsettos at the end, but we are used to that...)
Improve the recording and you'll get a very decent end product...
Nice job

really like the voice, the guitar was alright but seemed a little choppy. It might just be difficult to hear it well because of the quality, like he said, improve the recording and youll get a much better product. Are you using a delay on your voice? it sounds like your playing a Howie Day type set up, which I like alot. Keep posting. good stuff!
EDIT: its hard to tell with the quality, was that a postal service tag at the end?

I didn't hear the hammer ons in the intro, which I think are crucial to the guitar part

thanks for the feedback! yeah that was a "such great heights" bit at the end... glad you liked it
i've only been playing for 3 yrs and singing for just about 1. i pretty much came from not being able to sing a note, let alone play/sing together... so i really appreciate the comments, especially the ones about my vocals!

dont sell your guitar...
Like others said the recording quality leaves alot to be desired, but im know we have all heard worse. Your voice is actually pretty good considering you have only been singing a year. I dont like those little breaks you put in the verse, but thats just my taste. Guitar is decent, but this song isnt too hard. Your vocals seem forced at times like you are trying to keep daves beat and tone, dont do that. and i like the such great heights ending. Keep it up, thanks for posting...

Nice cover! Voice seems forced at spots, particularly in the beginning, but overall very good. The guitar needs to flow just a bit better in some spots, but that is just me being picky.
The best thing you can do, and most others have said it, is to get your recording right.....the levels are really off. If you fix that, you've got a winner.
You're only as strong as the tables you dance on.

Thanks for the comments-
As far as recording, you guys caught me using a cheap microphone, that's all. What I did for that was play/sing through my PA, and i used a cheap MicroMemo attached to my iPod to record how I sound "live".
I do have a condensor mic to do a really clean recording, but with this I was trying to do as "live" a recording as I could. I should probably use that next time to pick up the sound, but i dont have the extra mixer required.
As far as sounding forced, is it forced in a way that my voice isnt meant to go there, or just I need to keep ear training to know where to go more comfortably? If you could give me a specific phrase that sounds weird, that'd be great!
I really appreciate the feedback all you guys...

everything sounds a little bit like it needs smoothing out. i recommend working on more strumming oriented songs... that helps your cadence, timing, and comfort and will smooth out your singing (where it sounds forced). it will come more naturally to you because you have real potential. keep it up...

Lemme know what you think, please!!! Am I concert worthy or should I just hang it up and sell my guitar?

hey man, nice job on this... i agree with sfmartins, the recording equipment doesn't really do you justice... you sound good, but there are some muffled parts do to the sound/tone limits in whatever equipment your using..
you do a few pauses in place of the transitions between verse and chorus that i believe make the cover sound very unique, i like that..
guitar playing is pretty good, voice i like.. nice job
post more covers!
Thanks,
Tim
