Finally... a banjo original

Unread post by Banjobach » Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:04 am

But i warn you, this is not an upbeat tune. This is for my father, i wrote it today. Tell me what you think, this song came out all at once. I didnt do much editing on it.

Here are the lyrics:
Earth moves slow
and the seasons go
warm and cold
raining grey and gold
around
seasons move around
watch them go around
seasons move around

Days turn dark
and this train embarks
silently
no one but me
around
people move around
watch me go around
people move around

Down he goes
in the ground, enclose
dissappear
I dream he's here
around
souls will move around
watch him go around
souls will move around

I like this.. The Banjo fits, and for it being simple it still kept me interested..

I really like the numb quiet vocals in the first two verses, but I'd like to hear this with the last verse in your high register... let that emotion get out...

Nice job, I like it..would sound perty with some light violin...

I loved it, very simple and neat. The last verse or so of the lyrics were very good to, whats your recording setup, very good quality

I recorded my banjo and my voice with an SM58 mic and an M-Audio studio usb interface (cost me about $100). I edited it in N-track Studio. Not too high tech really but it did the job i guess.

Incredible song. I'm sorry for your loss.

Something I would consider would be to add some cello playing as an outro to the song. It's excellent as it is but to me, the cello does a wonderful job expressing longing and it would really put this song over the top.

I just listened to all of your songs and I must say that you are very talented. I wish I had the smallest piece of your vocal ability. Are the other songs (Knights and Saints, Neighbor) originals or covers?

Anyhow, keep it up, and if you aren't playing gigs, you should be.

Simply awesome man...I agree with Willin that some cello would sound really cool in the background. You are very talented.

I'm touched by your song and deeply sorry for your loss.

I also agree about adding some cello or something to give it a little more depth. Great job again.

Thank you for all of your condolensces and thank you for the positive feedback. I agree a cello would be awesome but i dont really know any cello players... It would be a nice touch though i agree. As for kings and saints and neighbor, yes i did write those but i havent been gigging in a while. Right now its just been tough coming back to life with school and work and so on.
Thanks everyone.
