"Your House" cover

Unread post by dmbvideos » Thu Dec 14, 2006 9:04 pm

Here's a cover of "Your House" by Alanis Morissette.

I'd love some feedback on the vocals. What can I do to improve them?
I know my timing is a little off, and the guitar strings need changing.

Any feedback would be great.
Note the fancy key change in the song! :)

the link is "hxxp" i changed to http and it worked

the vocals are pretty weak, while they're on key for the most part youre more speaking than singing. they have a weird al tinge to them to be honest...

not bad though

in your vocals, be really careful about your pronunciations. very specific your "r's" you're putting too much r on it and it makes it sound country, make sure you're opening your mouth wide.

i think this song has been recorded a bit too low for you, bring it up a couple steps and you can use your singing voice as opposed to singing w/ your talking voice.

you also have a few rhythm skips in there that really throw the whole song off. try tapping your feet or playing to a metronome.

i'd really like to hear this or something else re recorded that is more in your vocal range. keep it up and keep posting. advice can only help :)

Thanks for the advice, you two.
The "yers" are on purpose, as that's how she says them in the song.

I'm going on vacation next week, and I'll have a better mic and recording setup, as well as a friend who plays bass/banjo/pretty much anything. I'll take your advice and record it a step or two up. That original was capo II, so I'll try IV or V or VI.

Thanks,

Tony
