Unread post by HumbleMonkey » Fri Sep 01, 2006 9:28 am

Aint It All So Great

Hey aint it all so great
Just fillin up your plate
And waiting for it all to begin
Just to take it all in
And then you take another glance at your plate and say
Hey maybe it aint all so great
But hey there cant be any good
If the bad doesn’t come too

And aint it all so great
When your ridin a wave
Water splashin in your face
Then the wave gets to big and under you go
Until you reach the shore and say
Hey maybe it aint all so great
But hey there cant be any good
If the bad doesn’t come too

But I swear its all gonna be alright
Just try your best to sleep sound tonight
Tears will wash away
And though now you might say

Hey aint it all so great
When all the moneys flowin in
And its easy to buy your friends
Then a twist of fate leaves you broke
And your life becomes nothing more than a joke and you say
Hey maybe it aint all so great
But hey there cant be any good
If the bad doesn’t come too

there are a few things that are really good about this sone. it has a real folksy sound, which is something i strive for but never get there.

the vocals are off in alot of places and you kinda drop the rhythm in a couple places.

the lyrics are not my favorite, but uts still a good song.

keep writing and keep posting

i think rythmically this one needs a lot of work. i like the progression a lot, but your rhythm is all over the place. nad i know you said to ignore the random noise, but it's so distracting, you should get a different program...

yea, if you can't get that one to work, hit me up later and i'll try to help you out. i would recycle bin that thing if it messed up my songs like that. that's beyond forgiveness for a program

what can i do for rhythm, cause it seems you say that for most songs i write, is there anywhere in this song specific thats real bad or in general? idk i usually write songs very loosely on guitar, i kinda do different things different strums and im not sure if thats what your picking up on or??

just tap your foot man. you kinda drop it off a little bit at the end of a few measures

just make sure that your strumming hand isn't stopping. if you're not going to hit the strings on that upstroke, don't wait until the part of the song that you hit strings for the upstroke. go ahead and do the upstroke, just don't hit the strings. that way your strumming hand is keeping rhythm for you while your foot is keeping rhythm for you. they should always be together. if you look at some of dave's songs, even stone, you'll notices that even though he's doing single note stuff, his strumming hand moves up and down in the same rhythm the entire time almost like here were playing the drums w/ it. that's what you gotta do so that your rhythm isn't interrupted. i've never known a musician that didn't do it that way.
