Barricades of Heaven - Jackson Browne
Barricades of Heaven - Jackson Browne
So, I heard this song a few weeks ago for the first time and instantly fell in love w/ it. i suggest this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B5 ... 20?ie=UTF8 if you don't know much about him or want an amazing album to listen to.
anyway, here is my attempt at barricades of heaven. it's a little faster than jackson's, and he playes it w/ his guitar tuned down half a step which i'm too lazy to do. therefore, i may struggle w/ a few of the notes, but not enough to embarrass me to the point where i don't want to post it. so i hope you all enjoy, let me know what you think.

Mitch, always a pleasure hearing something from you.
Jackson Browne is one of my favorite musicians and Solo Acoustic Vol. 1 is my personal favorite album since BTCS. At my last gig, 4 of the 8 songs I played were off that album (These Days, Your Bright Baby Blues, The Pretender, Take It Easy). Can't get enough of it.
Like Bobby said, brave tackling this song. I commend you for that.
I thought the guitar was pretty good, but in my opinion, I thought it was a bit rushed and played too harsh. It resembles the studio version. Maybe I'm just so used to hearing the solo version that this came as a bit of a surprise and if that's the case, I really have no right to gripe about that. I think one of the things that makes Jackson Browne so damn good is his ability to keep the guitar melody very interesting, very soothing yet demanding of your attention. I would suggest letting some of those riffs breathe a bit.
I'm a fan of your voice. For the most part solid, but there were a few times your cover sounded a bit awkward to me, usually the higher notes: "Jimmy FOUND...", "YEARS from learning", "better BRING", "to the BARRICADES", "ALL the world", and so on. But that's some hard shit, man, and again, ballsy cover, and I really enjoyed it.

[quote] yea, i agree. i actually recorded the same day i learned how to play it. i can play it much better now and after trying both, i definitely think it sounds much better slowed down.

This is awesome. I've never heard any of his stuff but after this cover I'm going to.
I agree that this would sound better with a little less attack quack (I just made that up
)on the guitar. I think you did a great job on the vocals especially since those are some pretty tough notes. There were one or two off notes but they're hardly worth mentioning cause that's just nitpickiing.
Very cool stuff Mitch.

I've heard this one once in http://www.pandora.com (when I started a radio with Dave Matthews as start) and found it pretty cool.
i honestly just used a tab i found online and then tried my best to figure out some of the licks. i'm not a good tabber at all, but here's some of what i haveandybutter wrote:loved this cover.... not too fast IMO, the chord progression is sweet, where could i find a tab for this?
