Sessions with my friend

Unread post by mattinbeloit » Tue Jan 24, 2006 2:05 am

My friend Lucas and I spend alot of time in teh studio, he's going to be graduating from college this year so we are trying to get some of his songs down, and as he will admit his guitar style is very simplistic and he wants more in his songs so i have been playing along and adding rythm to fill up his songs, and i thought i would share two of his songs with you guys since i think alot of you will find his voice unique but nice. The first song, "My Revolver" is him playing and singing and me on guitar adding some picking and other rythm so check it out, a cool little song.

The second song, "Down" is something that came out and was written while we where in the studio and was basically a summation of alot of conversations we had over pizza breaks and walking back and forth to the studio. Lucas really has a thing against mass culutre and what it is doing to the individual and society. One day i has messing around with a little lick on the guitar and he picked it up and just went with it and put together some lyrics. We talked about it and i helped him with some transition stuff but it is truly his song and i ended up recording him just playing and singing since i thought his somple playing style suited the song well and I didnt want to make it too busy. This is a great song and really one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard so enjoy.

Wow, I really liked Down, that was awesome. The guitar riff reminds me about a Norwegian song that I love. I didn't quite catch the lyrics though.

My revolver was also good, I like his voice. It reminds me of Antony And The Johnsons. Very nice.
