my first halfway respectable recording of The Stone
this is a recording from tonight when one of my friends came over, i just opened up cool edit and let it record while we sat around playing... this is a short clip of part of it, i'm playing the loudest, my friend is the lighter sounding one, and he starts to solo a little before i cut it off
ive been playing about 4.5 months, i think this is pretty decent for that long

You suck. Definitely just kidding
Anyway, for only playing for 4.5 months, it doesn't sound all that bad. Way better than I played it at 4.5 months. Unfortunately for me, I was gonna post a quick recording of my version of the verse and since I have been playing for about 1.5 years, its pretty much similar to yours. Anyway, nice job and keep practicing, thats the only way to sound like Dave.

for 4.5 months, youre flyin man. Pay some special attention to the 55232 part at the end of the verse...you need to concentrate on making each note it's own note. It gets a little muddled together there. You also sound like youre punishing your guitar on the chords. Maybe a little softer touch? But shit man, you'll be there in no time. Your rythm for the song is pretty good. Good job. Wheres the rest of the song?

This version might also be a little rushed, mostly in the part where it requires the alternate picking and you are deffinatley pounding on the chords. But you deffinatley got the gerneral idea of the song. Same advice I gave to speen, get a solo or d&t version of the song or the video of Dave playing it on hte charlie rose show of Kazaa and play along. You sound like you'll have the song down pretty good soon. Just keep playing it and tweaking it, youre well on your way.

the stone is a song i always wanted to play, so i threw this up pretty much the first time it came out even sounding ok- ive really only been able to play it at all for about 2 days, and i can already play it better... i'll put up another one in a month or so, and i'll record it when i'm not drunk and stoned out of my mind
i stopped the clip because we start talking about illinois basketball
and the playing slows down a little bit- i just let my computer record while we play so it gets everything
