Update- NEON cover and more!

Unread post by ticohans » Mon Apr 21, 2003 3:41 pm

Hey guys, so I just layed down the Neon cover that I said I would. It's up on my website along with a CLEAN version of "You Are Mine." The previous version wasn't a good rip, but this one is, so if you want a good copy, it's up. Also up is my new song "One More Night" which some of you have already heard. Looking forward to some feedback, especially on Neon. Thanks guys.

hey ticohans, sounds nice. personally i like it better acoustic. it also seems kind of slow, dont know if you meant to do it like that. your voice sounds great as always. recording quality sounds a bit bad, or maybe thats just my speakers. i hear buzzing (not string buzz, just static buzz type thing). good stuff :)

Yeah, unfortunately my computer mic sucks, thus the poor quality recording. About it being slow, that wasn't my intention, but it's pretty close to the tempo of Mayer's CD recording. I don't know how how he plays it acoustic, maybe he does it faster. So yeah, I played it at the speed I wanted to. Should it be faster? I like the laid back feel, but it is too laid back?

Hey Tico, just checking Neon for now...

Great guitar...yeah, for just the acoustic version you might want to step it up a notch...to be picky, you sound a little too serious...this is more of a fun song...I want to hear someone flaunt the words...just speed it up a hair and try to take a more light-hearted and smooth style...that is just my worthless opinion...take it for what it is worth  don't get me wrong though...sounds awsome dude...I still have to getthe other ones yet...I will let you know when I get to them

hey tico

I love the song "you are mine" how bout you post the tabs or chords to that one...like you did with "returning to dust" some time earlier.

and by the way: why didn't you answer my email yet - I send you the link to some of my songs but you never replied. :( have you listened to them yet?

I probably wouldn't post tabs to some of the songs as they are his originals and if someone not to honest were to get ahold of them they could pretend it was theirs instead of Hans.

As far as the songs go, again, awesome job! Would be awesome to be able to jam with you sometime. Keep the stuff coming as it always sounds great.

[Edit: Actually, as I'm sitting here listening to You Are Mine, where do I send the $15 for the cd of this stuff? :D ]

hey tico,

I was just listening to one of your songs again...(I need my dosis at least once a day! ) and I was just wondering:
Are you a tenor?...you're at least a dramatic tenor, are you not?

i think your songs are pretty good but you use way too many effects. or just too much of one effect. i would prefer a cleaner sound, but it's your songs. it just almost sounds like you are trying to hide your voice

I really like "You are mine"It had a really cool feeling to it, I could see you playing that by yourself in front of 10,000 people. Man, I wish you lived up in Ohio, we could make a killer Duo. :(
someday perhaps-

hey billy, the reason the majority of my songs sound like there's a butt load of effects running is because i've recorded most of them on my computer with about the worst computer mic you've ever heard. it takes me forever to tweak things right to get it to sound as lame as it does. did you ever download my studio recordings? because those are clean. let me know and i can put some of them back up. the "you are mine" that i have up right now is a studio recording, and the only effect used is a reverb on the guitar and voice. it's a little heavy handed, but it doesn't really mask the voice. that being said, it's not a great vocal performance to begin with. if you haven't heard them, i can put up my better recordings. those songs are "captured," "sorry love," "returning to dust," and "strength of a little boy."

lennox, you'll be the first to know if there's ever a cd to be had for $15. :)
in terms of posting tabs, the way copyright laws work is as long as you have a recording, something where the date can be verified, you have a copyright as you can prove that you are the owner of the song. that doesn't mean that some jerk won't try to steal the music, but i've got the copyrights. putting up tabs don't make it any more likely that the music will be stolen, as anyone can listen to a recording and write out the chord progression/melody/tab.

Michael, yes I am a tenor

and juineaux, we would definitely make a killer duo.

tico, honestly....I know you already know this...but dont listen to this guy...he could actually make somebody worse by giving his advice....

too much effects?

you "HIDE" your voice??!!?!!? <-----thats just moronic...

I think One More Night is your best song...I mean...thats a great song dude...you defnitely have the most talent on these boards when it comes to originals...definitely....I'm not trying to kiss your ass, but I read billys post and laughed....
